M. Rivers most recent offering "urges people to think for themselves. I think there's sort of an awakening of our consciousness now; There's still too much information, but I think people are starting to see how we're being manipulated. So the song is just saying 'Think for yourself.' There's a good chance that collectively we can make a change, but there's still an awakening we need to have as humans." - Billboard
"It's a solo project," Kasprzyk tells Billboard. "I've just been creating a lot, and this stuff I was writing and recording didn't sound like (Redlight King), and that's what led to M. Rivers."
The debut EP from South Bay artists Mad Hawkes is here. A five song alternative/indie rock rager produced by Jimmy Messer (Awolnation, Kelly Clarkson, Kygo), the EP features their debut single "Fantasy" along with moody "Face Punch", smartly written "Mistress" and more. Listen now and share it!
The songs from her new EP bear the mark of maturity earned by navigating the minefield of young adult life showcased by tracks that are straightforward and brutally honest, lyrically-speaking.
Her synth-laden alt-indie-pop is lyrically complex, going beyond the well-overdone themes of heartbreak found in mainstream pop, and delves into subjects of depression, shame and self-deprecation.
The song is everything you could ever want in a summer-vibe anthem, and just listening to the tune will make you want to cruise along the coast, with sunglasses on and the windows down.
Her pop music, which she dubs “babe rock” and models after bold babes such as Karen O and Amy Winehouse,” is equal parts agile vocals, caffeinated production and stark honesty.
"M. Rivers is more than just a catchphrase. His song has raw power, and the backstory of his tattoos are just as powerful. I caught up with the musician and discussed his song, his work, and his ink. Read on, peops."
From an act of rebellion to a curated art collection, M. Rivers of Parts + Labor Records shares how #tattoos document his travels and the incredible experiences he's had on the road as part of Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County's Tattoo Exhibit Artist Series.
"At their recent show at LA’s The Satellite people were, in fact, singing and dancing, an impressive feet to achieve at any show. Maddi interchanged from singing and bopping around stage, to rocking out on her red guitar. Her band rounded things out on drum and keyboard, while wearing cropped bright red wigs and white smock-like dresses, a reminder to let loose and enjoy the moment."
"With that setting as her inspiration, she developed her pop sensitive voice. Raw passion omits from the soul of this refreshing new talent; one to watch this year."
"Think K. Flay, but 10 times groovier. Up and coming artist, Mad Hawkes is sprawling onto the alternative music scene with edge dripping from her effortlessly cool track “Fantasy.” This song is guaranteed to make you dance around and become a huge fan. "
Just because Mad Hawkes grew up on the South Bay of Los Angeles, spending her days surfing and chilling in her old VW, doesn’t mean her life has been all sunshine and butterflies. The singer-songwriter has experienced her fair share of heartache and mistakes...
The debut single from Parts + Labor recording artist Mad Hawkes is here and available for streaming and download on all major streaming services including Spotify, Apple and Tidal.
